Caustic soda is manufactured by electrolysis of a solution of common salt. Worldwide production is approximately 60 million tons annually. Caustic soda is sold in different forms of flakes, pellet or solid  or may be in solution form in concentrations of 32% or 50%.

Applications

Caustic soda is a base chemical used in manufacture of many other secondary chemicals & products. One of the main use is manufacture of soap & detergents. Caustic soda is also used in pulp and paper & textile industries.Caustic soda can also be used to neutralize acidic waste as caustic soda is an alkali.
